Our Core Initiatives

After retiring from football in 1977, Pelé concentrated on using his fame to work for causes he believed in, ranging from world peace to international children’s rights and poverty alleviation. The Pelé Foundation is a US-based 501c3 non-profit organization created while the King was still alive, to continue building a more just, equal, and loving society.

Education

Youth education is a crucial aspect of societal development, encompassing the formal and informal processes by which young individuals acquire knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary for their personal and professional growth.

King Pelé fought hard for the education of young people and children, striving to increase literacy rates in Brazil and around the world. We believe that education is the key to social development and the creation of a more just and equitable society.

Inclusion
Through Sport

Inclusion through sport is a powerful tool for promoting equality, social integration, and respect for differences. Sports activities can significantly contribute to the inclusion of individuals and groups facing social, economic, or cultural barriers.

King Pelé supported many initiatives throughout his life that sought to use sport as a means for social development, as well as a tool to steer poor children away from crime and violence. Therefore, we advocate for initiatives that promote sport to help save lives.

In 2018, Pelé launched his namesake global legacy foundation, The Pelé Foundation, a new charitable endeavor that will benefit organizations around the world and their dedicated efforts to empower children, specifically around poverty and education. The Pelé Foundation is a US-based 501c3 nonprofit organization.
